Rick Kaempfer is a true rarity: a funny German. His parents were German immigrants, and Rick was raised in Germany, but he says his background actually made him a better humor writer.
“Once you can get laughs from Germans,” Kaempfer explains, “you can entertain anyone.”
Rick is the editor-in-chief of his own cleverly named daily humor blog: Rick Kaempfer, but he’s also a contributing editor at Shore Magazine and a humor writer for The Beachwood Reporter. Rick literally writes something new for public consumption every day.
Kaempfer has even become a published author and novelist. His satirical novel $everance (ENC Press, 2007), and his earlier book (co-written with John Swanson), The Radio Producer’s Handbook (Allworth Press, 2004), both cover a subject matter he knows all too well: broadcasting.
Before becoming a full-time writer, Rick was a nationally recognized radio producer in Chicago for Steve Dahl & Garry Meier (1987-1991) and John Records Landecker (1993-2003). He has also hosted his own radio show, written and hosted national radio specials, and currently co-owns an advertising agency in Chicago.
Rick lives in suburban Chicago with his wife Bridget, and his sons Tommy, Johnny and Sean.
